Easements

An easement is the right of a landowner to use a piece of neighbouring land for a specified purpose to the benefit of their own land.

As experts in property litigation, we are experienced in all manner of easements. In particular, we specialise in two of the most common types of easement:

  • Rights of Way: legal permission to pass through property that is not one’s own. Disputes arise over the extent, excessive use of, interference with or neglect of a right of way
  • Rights of Light: easement to enjoy the natural light that passes over someone else’s land and enters through defined apertures in your building
